StarID

The StarID project is an evolving Open Source code base of solutions for the Star Identification Problem. The Star Identification Problem is: identify stars from position measurements, and return star catalog information. Star identification is used in astronomy and aerospace engineering, and with telescopes, cameras, and star trackers. The problem is also referred to as star matching, pattern matching, or pattern recognition.

References are given for methods based on the literature. StarID version one implements several methods developed by Dr. Daniele Mortari of the Scuola di Ingegneria Aerospaziale, Univesita degli Studi La Sapienza di Roma.
